Midwife

Midwifery is the term traditionally used to describe the art of assisting a woman through childbirth. In the modern context, this term is used to describe the activities of these health care providers who are experts in women's health care including giving prenatal care to expecting mothers. They attend the birth of the infant and provide postpartum care to the mother and her infant.

Doulas

A wonderful addition to the birthing process is working with a doula. A doula is also often referred to as a labor coach or assistant. Certified doulas do not provide any kind of medical care. Doulas work to reduce your stress level while in labor so as to produce a delivery with fewer complications and problems. They do provide emotional and physical support for the laboring woman and her family and/or post-partum care of the mother and baby. Doula care has been shown to improve outcomes for both moms and babies in many studies.
